Raptors helped organise the primary school basketball tournament at the Whitworth sports festival earlier in June in Partnership with the Rossendale Leisure Trust. The tournament had teams from St Johns, Tonacliffe and Thorn Primary school.

The Tournament was a big success with some excellent basketball from all three schools. St Johns topped the group followed by Thorn, with the two teams from Toncaliffe finishing third and fourth.

St Johns then beat Thorn in the final to claim the trophy. England International Mollie Campbell kindly attended the event, refereed the games and then chatted with the kids about her basketball career, showing off her England kits, national and international medals and talked about her trips around Europe.

To cap of the evening, Mollie, and Raptors coach Ken Masser played some games with the youngsters from Thorn Primary School who then put on Mollies England vests for a final picture.

It was a really good event and thanks should go to Whitworth Sports Festival and Whitworth Town Council as well as the Leisure Trust and Mollie Campbell.
