In one of the most exciting developments of the season we are delighted to announce that Rossendale local boy Conor Porter is returning to his boyhood club and is a Raptor once again.
After a successful four years at junior level with the Manchester Magic and making a contribution to Magics senior team being promoted back to Division 1 last season, Conor (19) has decided to return back to his roots. With opportunities limited this season he has seized the chance to play for his local team, the Raptors, and gain valuable experience playing alongside Steven Gayle and new signing Papis Samb as well as the other Raptors players.
Conor said; "I'm hoping to make an impact for my home town and help the guys push for promotion to Division 2, and when I spoke to Ken, I just felt this was the best place for me to be at this time. I'm confident that I'm really going to enjoy being part of the setup at the Raptors and I'm looking forward to getting on court."
Club Chairman Ken Masser is ecstatic with the signing; "Conor is one of the brightest young prospects in English Basketball. He plays unbelievable defence, he's a great shooter and he's terrifc on the break. He sees the floor very well, he's an excellent passer, and can find his team mates. He has a great basketball IQ, a terrific work ethic and he'll be a leader on this team for what I hope will be many years to come. He's a true all rounder. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to work with him."
Conor will be suiting up for the Raptors this weekend against Tees Valley. Come along and support him, Haslingden Sports Centre, 5:15pm. £2 for adults, 50p for U16s.
