Rossendale Raptors picked up the fourth win in a row against Tees Valley Mohawks on Saturday to keep them in the chasing pack as they seek to stay in striking distance for one of the promotion places as the season progresses.
The game started quickly as the Raptors jumped out to 20-6 lead in the first five minutes. Following a series of slow starts in the last few weeks this was a welcome sight for the Raptors coaching team. New signing Conor Porter has six points in the opening quarter as he added some intensity and pace to the Raptors attack and defence.
By the end of the first quarter the Raptors were 32-18 and grew their lead further to 26 at its highest point. The Raptors rotated their bench and rested key players which allowed Tees Valley to close the gap a little. But overall it was a good team performance for the Raptors.
Conor Porter finished with 8 points on his debut, while Papis Samb had 13 to lead Raptors scorers. Other scorers as follows: Estrada 13, Samb 13, Graham 12, Lindsay 12, Porter 8, Sutton 8, Kuczaj 7, Chicken 4, Michaelson-Yates 2, Gayle 2.
Conor Porter commented; "I enjoyed the game. I was a little nervous being back in front my home town fans, but as I settled into the game I really enjoyed it. I didnt have my best game, and I hope I can bring a little more in the coming weeks but I am really excited for the season. The team has a lot of talent, and I think we can be very competitive every week."
The Raptors next game is away at Birmingham As followed by a home fixture on the 8th of December againts Milton Keynes in the quarter finals of the National Shield.
