We're delighted to welcome Josh Houghton and Yomi 'Ty' Taiwo to the Raptors.
Coah Ken Masser commented; "We already had a very talented squad which I think shows from our recent results. We've got Conor Porter, Papis Samb and Anthony Kuszaj and others coming off the bench which demonstrates the strength we have. To add Josh and Ty is unbeleivable - I'm really pleased."
"Josh is a top top player, and hes proved that during the last few years at Manchester Magic, Leeds Carnegie and more recently at Stockport. He will give us a lot of extra firepower in the backcourt, further bolster our improving defence, and give us an additional ball handler. The thought of pairing him with Gayle, Porter, Samb, Estrada, Graham and others in the backcourt is an exciting prospect!"
"What's really exciting is that he's so young - he is going to be a top top player for years to come and hopefully he can help us continue to progress up the leagues and be competitive right to the highest level."
"Ty is one of the most athletic players that I've seen in years. His strength, power and athleticism are going to cause a lot of teams a lot of problems. He's a good defender, great rebounder, a fantastic shot blocker and he gives us that inside basket protection which we've lacked from time to time. He can finish around the rim with both hands and if he gets catches in good positions he's an explosive dunker. His potential is sky high and I think he's got the work ethic to become a very very good player."
We've got some brilliant forwards already, who are all really talented and bring a lot to the team in different ways. Ty is going to give us something different again, and our fans are going to enjoy watching him play above the rim!"
The Raptors game against Stockport was cancelled today, due to Stocport sadly withdrawing from the league. Next week we face one of our biggest challenges of the season as we travel to Sheffield Sabres for a league game on Saturday, followed by the National Shield semi final away to Oxford on Sunday as we hope to make our first National cup final.
