Raptors beat Hoods

Following last weeks tough loss at Northants Thunder the Raptors were keen to bounce back in their home fixture against Nottingham on Saturday.

The Raptors answered the call and started the game aggressively. The Raptors played at a high tempo behind an excellent first 5-6 minutes from Steven Gayle, Aitor Estrada and Conor Porter who shot brilliantly and the Raptors led by over 20 at the close of the first quarter.

The Raptors dominated the second quarter in similar fashion with all 12 Raptors players getting onto court in the first half as Coach Masser rotated his bench.

Usual starters Steven Gayle and Conor Porter played limited minutes and barely featured in the second half, yet the Raptors highlighted their strength in depth as they continued to dominate the game.

Local youngster Ben Chicken played brilliantly to lead the team in minutes played and added 12 points and 9 rebounds. That was the most points Ben has scored in a National League senior game.

The Raptors ran out comfortable winners overall, 104-68.

Captain Aitor Estrada led with 25, Josh Houghton 18 and Ben Chicken 12.

Captain Estrada commented; "it was a good win today. Nottingham are an experienced and talented side but we got off to a quick start and didn't look back. It was good to see everyone getting plenty of game time and for some of the younger players to show what they can do."
