Stephen Gayle has been voted as the England Basketball Division 4 North player of the year, after leading the league in scoring with 34.8ppg, 7.7 rebounds and 6.9 assists. These are terrific statistics for a guard that highlight his strong overall play. He was also one of the highest in the league in steals showing his defensive presence as well.
Stephen has had some terrific performances all year including a 55 points, 8 assist, 7 rebound game against Bradford Dragons and multiple 40 point games.
In the tight overtime win in the Playoffs against Crawley Stephen recorded his only triple double of the season, with 30 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists.
Gayle has thoroughly enjoyed his season, and although he was pipped to the post for MVP in the playoff finals but Raptors big man Ionut Slabu, he is a deserving winner of the league MVP.
Gayle commented on the season; "I have very much enjoyed playing with the Raptors this season, and in many respects have fallen back in love with the game following a couple of difficult seasons previously. It's a brilliant Club that is well managed and well supported, and I appreciate the support from the fans. I should also say that without the other guys on the team, I wouldnt be player of the year - they've all been great!"
Elsewhere for the Raptors Steven Graham was third in FG% making over 60% of his shots whilst also finishing second in offensive efficieny signifying his great shooting, good assists and limited turnovers. Stephen Gayle finished fourth in the same category.
