Raptors had their first away fixture of the new campaign against one of the leagues better sides City of Sheffield Saints. Raptors opened the game sharply against some tough D and were soon in command against a young but talented Saints team. It was a physical opening period to the game leading to one Sheffield player being ejected from the game. The whole Raptors squad were up for the task with emphasis being on playing strong defence and limiting Sheffields chances for easy points. By half time and Raptors had raced out to what was a comfortable 48-31 lead.
However, in the third period and all the good work the guys had put in was undone by some poor shot choices and mental lapses. Coach Fry called a time out which allowed the team to re-organise themselves. The Raptors stood their ground in the final quarter and despite the strong comeback from Sheffield they emerged victors with a great 79-74 victory behind 43 points from Stephen Gayle and strong performances from Angelo Kornecki and John Lindsay.
