A depleted Raptors squad made the journey to the midlands to play The "Birmingham A"s .The A"s had previously enjoyed division 2 status and coach Fry new we had a job on our hands just to compete with this team.Turning up short handed, with key players, Sutton, Roachford, Lindsay, Masser, Chicken all missing turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the Raptors ran out comfortbale winners 87-56.
Raptors got off to a flyer and seemed to be scoring every time up the court. For the first time this season the Raptors tenacious defence seemed to be fully charged and the Raptors played the best Basketball of their new campaign to date. Steve Gayle, once again led the team with 28 points but was ably supported by the ever ready Ang Kornecki 22 points. Aitor Estrada had his best game of the new season with 18 points and the Raptors hoe this is a return to form for the sharp shooting spaniard who starred last season.
This could prove to be an important stepping stone foe the Raptors and Birmingham are a much better side than the scoreline suggests.
Raptors next fixture is this Saturday when we entertain Derby Trailblazers II at Haslingden Sports Centre at 5.15pm
