Women's - The Raptors

Rossendale Basketball Club is one of the first basketball clubs in Lancashire to make a commitment to girls and women’s basketball. In 2010 the club promoted girls basketball in each of the Rossendale high schools and organised a very successful girls basketball tournament. At the start of 2011 we made a commitment to give women the opportunity to play basketball in the Rossendale Valley in a setting that was friendly and welcoming with an emphasis on keeping fit and having fun.

Basketball sessions are held every Tuesday evening at All Saints Catholic High School in Rawtenstall in a brand new state of the art sports hall as part of the clubs’ partnership with the school with the women’s session running from 9-10. The sessions are run by qualified coaches who are endorsed by England Basketball. The women’s sessions are planned to accommodate those who have never played basketball before and for more experienced players.

The Community Foundation for Lancashire has kindly awarded the Club a small grant to help to establish women's basketball in the Rossendale Valley.

The women's team now competes regularly in the womens division of the Manchester Area Basketball League but still caters for both expeienced players and complete novices.
